Shad and Michele Rowe made a generous gift to Southwestern Medical Foundation that will help scientists decipher the workings of the human brain at the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute (OBI). The Rowes are hopeful that new discoveries will someday end the devastating toll of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s (PD) and other movement disorders.

The Human Connectome Project

Advancing Brain Treatment

UT Southwestern Medical Center researchers have joined biologists, physicians, computer scientists, and physicists from many different institutions across the U.S. to participate in the Human Connectome Project (HCP). The HCP is an ambitious effort to study and share data on the patterns of neural connections in the human brain during developmental stages, as well as in health and disease states, that could reap tremendous benefits for humanity.
