Southwestern Medical Foundation announces new position and 2026-2027 Board of Trustees

Southwestern Medical Foundation Board Of Trustees Chair Jere Thompson has not only announced that Catherine Rose will serve as the “first-ever vice chair,” but he has also revealed new board members including Lydia Addy, Anne Cary Bush, Hilda C. Galvan, Lee Hobson, Anurag Jain, James Litinsky, Cindy McClain and Sherri Patton.

For more than 85 years, Southwestern Medical Foundation has been an impact-driven public charity focused on building a sustainable funding source for innovative research, best-in-class medical education, and the highest standard of care at UT Southwestern Medical Center and its related institutions, the nonprofit said.

Southwestern Medical Foundation has named its new vice chair and eight new members to its board of trustees.

Southwestern Medical Foundation has awarded the 2026 Ho Din honor to UT Southwestern medical student Hannah Chang.

The Cary Council awarded former Centenary College student Jeff Schaffert, Ph.D., at its An Evening with DocStars event. He will receive a $50,000 seed grant to support his early-stage research.

Former University of Texas Medical Branch student, Dr. R. Nicholas Burns, was selected as one of three 2025 DocStars and awarded a $50,000 seed grant to advance his early-stage research.

The stars were out on a night dedicated to championing science, and researchers in Dallas were doing something good to transform care.

Dr. Timothy J. Brown, Dr. R. Nicholas Burns, and Dr. Jeff Schaffert received Early-Stage Research Grants from The Cary Council.

Southwestern Medical Foundation awarded The Sprague Award on October 14, 2025, an annual award given out to leaders in health care philanthropy for the last 34 years.
