Dallas-based Southwestern Medical Foundation announced that Jere W. Thompson Jr. has been elected chairman of the board of trustees. It also named six new members to its board during its recent annual meeting.

Southwestern Medical Foundation President/CEO Kathleen Gibson has just reported that the Foundation has a new chair plus six new trustees. Succeeding James Huffines, who has chaired the board since 2019, is Jere Thompson Jr.

In partnership with the Southwestern Medical Foundation, the Cary Council awarded $50K grants to each of its three 2021 young “DocStars.” On a recent “What’s Up Doc?” virtual event, the young investigators spoke about how their research projects are going, what they hope to achieve—and why the seed grants are a catalyst for medical innovation.

The Cary Council recently announced grant recipients of funds raised to support early-stage research from their 2021 “An Evening with DocStars at Home” event. From a distance, guests had the opportunity to meet this year’s grant recipients and several from previous years.
