UT Southwestern Medical Center researchers have joined biologists, physicians, computer scientists, and physicists from many different institutions across the U.S. to participate in the Human Connectome Project (HCP). The HCP is an ambitious effort to study and share data on the patterns of neural connections in the human brain during developmental stages, as well as in health and disease states, that could reap tremendous benefits for humanity.

On October 1, 2019, Southwestern Medical Foundation continued its ongoing speaker series, Leading the Conversation on Health, with a talk titled “On the Cusp: Innovation and Commercialization in Neurodegenerative and Neuromuscular Disease at UT Southwestern Medical Center.”

Dr. Sambrook brought tremendous leadership during his time at UT Southwestern. He was admired and respected by all who knew him and will be remembered fondly.

UT Southwestern Medical Center geneticist Dr. Helen H. Hobbs is the 2016 recipient of the prestigious Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences.

It may have been one small step for a UT Southwestern cardiologist in 1991, but it turned out to be one giant step for UT southwestern as it sent its first physician into orbit to understand the limits of the heart.
