What’s Up, Doc? is a night where members sit down for an intimate Q&A with the The Cary Council‘s 2023 ‘DocStars.’ This year, the event was hosted at the T. Boone Pickens Biomedical Building on the campus of UT Southwestern.
Attendees enjoyed an inside look at the cutting-edge work of this year’s Early-Stage Research grant recipients: Chris Herrera, M.D., Katie Hoge, M.D., and Avanthi Tayi Shah, M.D. Each of this year’s DocStars are at the forefront of research in their prospective fields, and we were grateful for a chance to sit down with them.
Research Spotlight
We had the pleasure of hearing from past DocStars funding recipient, Dr. Prasanna Alluri, who is leading the charge in breast cancer treatment research focusing on the development of a ground-breaking cancer vaccine that has the potential to treat and prevent certain types of breast cancer. He gave us an update on his work since receiving The Cary Council’s Early-Stage Research Grant in 2018, reminding us why this particular group is crucial to the advancement of research at UT Southwestern.
“The funding from The Cary Council was instrumental. I cannot really emphasize enough how much that funding has made a huge difference in leading us to where we are right now.”
Dr. Prasanna Alluri, M.D.
