Since 1939, Southwestern Medical Foundation has partnered with the community to advance public health by supporting medical research, medical education, and medical care. For generations, families, individuals, and businesses have helped us inspire a higher standard in medicine, and today it remains Southwestern Medical Foundation’s steadfast mission to continue to connect community to impact.

Supporting Medical Education

We partner with donors, advocates, and our primary beneficiary – UT Southwestern – to support the medical students and faculty through scholarships, awards, professorships, fellowships, and chairs. Each year UT Southwestern trains almost 3,700 medical, graduate, and health profession students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows, and welcomed its first class of Master of Public Health students in 2023.

Supporting Medical Care

We partner with medical leaders to help ensure that the resources they need to bring their patients the latest discoveries and treatments are accessible. UT Southwestern Medical Center is recognized as the No. 1 hospital in Texas (tied) in the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings. For the seventh consecutive year, UTSW is also the No. 1 hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Supporting Medical Discovery

We collaborate with like-minded philanthropists to ensure a scientific ecosystem where innovation and discovery can thrive. From early-stage seed funding to supporting medical research for critical ongoing studies, our mission is to provide everlasting sustainable funding to move medical progress forward. UT Southwestern is ranked No. 3 among global health care institutions in the 2023 Nature Index for its published research in all natural sciences and health sciences.
