I would like to express my deep appreciation for the warm welcome I have received in my first few months as President and CEO of Southwestern Medical Foundation. Your support and advocacy inspire our mission forward each day.
As we enter the summer season, a time of renewal and rejuvenation, let us reflect on the potential that lies ahead. We stand on the precipice of remarkable breakthroughs in medicine and health care, and it is together that we can usher in a new era of hope and healing.
Though I am new in this role, I am a lifelong Dallasite. I have witnessed firsthand the incredible growth and development that our region has experienced over the years. With more than 60 biotechnology and life sciences companies now calling North Texas home, it has transformed into a beacon of economic prosperity and innovation.
Amidst this remarkable growth, one entity has stood as a pillar of medical excellence and research: UT Southwestern. This esteemed institution has been at the forefront of groundbreaking discoveries and advancements in health care for decades. The impact of the research conducted here resonates far beyond our city’s borders, benefiting countless lives across the globe.
This fall, UT Southwestern will welcome the first students at the Peter O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health, its first new school in more than 50 years. Our community will also celebrate the opening of the new Texas Instruments Biomedical Engineering and Sciences Building. This five-story, state-of-the-art hub will encourage collaboration and innovation, housing a portion of both UT Southwestern and UT Dallas’ biomedical engineering programs.
The success and growth of UT Southwestern would not be possible without the unwavering support of our communities. Dallas-Fort Worth’s commitment to fostering medical progress and research is a testament to a profound belief in the power of science to transform lives. It is the generous hearts of many that fuel the engine of discovery and enable our talented researchers to push the boundaries of what is possible.
