In 1939, Southwestern Medical Foundation was formed by leaders who knew that a great city would require great philanthropy. In recognition of this diamond anniversary, in 2014 the Foundation held a celebration at the Winspear Opera House to honor the many visionaries whose generous contributions over the years have led to extraordinary advancements in medical research, medical education and health care.

During the gala, the Foundation announced a $7.5 million gift to UT Southwestern to provide support and inspire additional gifts to accelerate scientific discovery and strengthen its standing as a leader in neuroscience.

Honorary Co-Chairs of the Foundation’s 75th Anniversary Steering Committee were Mayor Mike Rawlings and Mr. and Mrs. Peter O’Donnell, Jr. William T. Solomon served as Chairman.
