As an Albert Schweitzer Fellow, Ruchika Mahapatra aims to remove barriers to health education. She is designing a curriculum at UT Southwestern's Paul Quinn College that provides health education workshops and individualized coaching on health care navigation, enhancing services provided by the school's clinic.

B.K. and Mark Sloan are grateful for the tremendous educations their daughters, Kaydee and Elizabeth, received at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Together with B.K.’s parents, Bitsy and Harold Carter, they have created a fund at Southwestern Medical Foundation to support UT Southwestern students through the Sloan Family Scholarship, which benefits second-year students in the School of Health Professions Doctor of Physical Therapy program, as well as funds for a special Women in Medicine orientation reception for first-year female medical students.

As an Albert Schweitzer Fellow, Shivani Raman aims to make treatment and care for hypertension more accessible. She is designing and implementing a self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) program for patients diagnosed with hypertension at the North Dallas Shared Ministries (NDSM) free clinic to promote improved hypertension management and patient empowerment.

As a first-generation immigrant from Bangladesh, Maishara Muquith has always been passionate about alleviating health disparities. Through the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship program, she is establishing a student-run free clinic that provides after-work hour services, specifically primary and preventive care, at Brother Bill’s Helping Hands.
