Dr. Natasha Houshmand was presented the Ho Din Award at the UTSouthwestern Medical School Commencement Ceremonies on May 8.

The Cary Council, a group of emerging young leaders who support the missions of Southwestern Medical Foundation and UT Southwestern Medical Center, announced grant recipients of funds raised to support early-stage research from their 2021 “An Evening with DocStars at Home” event, held on Saturday, May 1.

In collaboration with Southwestern Medical Foundation and UT Southwestern, the Cary Council took this timely opportunity to host a virtual holiday cooking lesson highlighting the latest findings from research in culinary medicine.

Southwestern Medical Foundation has announced five new Trustees, which were elected by the Foundation’s Board. Each of the new Trustees have contributed significantly to the community, with talents and passions closely aligned with the Foundation’s mission.

Members raise nearly $100K for three promising UT Southwestern Early-Stage Research Investigators; Recipients join six other awardees for a total of $6.8 million in follow-on funding to date; Council welcomes incoming Chair, Amanda George, and honors outgoing chair, Michael Kahn, for his leadership and generosity.

Originally established in 1943, the Ho Din Award is the highest honor bestowed on a UT Southwestern medical student. Southwestern Medical Foundation has elected James R. Huffines as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and four new members to its Board during their recent annual meeting. New Trustees Timothy P. Costello, Sarah K. Miller, Matthew S. Ramsey, and Sam L. Susser are well known in Dallas for their volunteer service and civic involvement.
