A Legacy of Supporting Progress
Throughout its history, UT Southwestern Medical Center’s dedicated faculty has led many breakthroughs. Early on, it was trauma, burns, and high-risk pregnancy. Soon, human nutrition and the benefits of exercise were brought to the forefront. Prominence grew in understanding and treating heart disease, cholesterol, and diabetes. Leadership in basic science translated to better care of patients and treatments for cancer, stroke, and injury and disease of the brain.
Today, the Foundation’s grant-making supports the latest technologies pioneering breakthroughs in cancer, cardiovascular disease, and most recently, the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute. The O’Donnell Brain Institute is a comprehensive center dedicated to better understanding the basic molecular workings of the brain and applying those discoveries to a wide and diverse range of neurological illnesses and diseases.
The Foundation is dedicated to helping leaders in medicine make discoveries that lead to lasting improvements in health care.
